85% sure...

I don' think that I have shared with my blog followers that my sister, Natalie,  is pregnant!!!  She is due December 26th:)  She had her 12 week check up today and everything looks great.  What a miracle a healthy baby is! I got to see pictures of the tiny baby and it was so cool.

Some of you might not know this but although I refer to Natalie as my sister, she is actually my cousin.  After my mom died when I was at a very young age, I went to live with my aunt and uncle therefore gaining 2 new siblings: Natalie and her older brother Jason.  I share this to say that today at Natalie's appointment she was told that according to the 4D ultrasound, she is expecting a GIRL!  I was selfishly hoping for a girl for Layla's sake, so that she could have a close girl in the family to maybe have a relationship like Nat and I have.  No expectations, no judgement, no stress or pressure.  Always a good time, and there for each other no matter what! Everyone needs at least one relationship like this in their life and it makes me happy that Layla will have a girl cousin in Atlanta to grow up with:) I love how God coordinates all things in our life.  It Makes me smile when I realize how much His hand is on the small details in order to bless us in more ways than we could even have imagined.

2 Year Old Check Up

Layla went for her 2 year old check up this morning.  It was our first time to see a doctor in Atlanta.  After asking several people, we decided on the Children's Medical Group of Atlanta.  I also made a point to see a female doctor for Layla.  Up to this point, her pediatricians have been male and with Layla being such a momma's girl, I thought that she would be more comfortable with a woman poking and prodding on her.  And boy was I right!  There were a couple of fusses here and there but overall, her examination went very easily.  I was relieved because I thought she was going to get her second shot in the Hepatitis A series but it has been too soon since her last one so we will put it off until 3 or whenever we go back.  The doctor did mention that the American Pediatric Association is now recommending a routine check up at 2.5 years.  Although it has been in place about 2 years, some insurance companies still are not covering this visit.  Has anyone else heard of this new recommendation?

They did prick Layla's finger to test for Anemia and to see if she had any lead in her blood.  They are testing for lead because we live in an older house.  It was an optional test but since they were taking blood anyway, I thought we might as well get the most out of that finger print.  They like for the iron level to be above 33 and Layla's was 40. So that was perfect.  We won't get the lead results back for a few days. I don't expect that to be an issue either.

Here are her other stats at 2 years and 9 days old:
Weight: 27.25 pounds 70-75th percentile
Height: 35.5 inches 90th percentile
Head: 18.75 70-75th percentile

All that to say, Layla is tall, her weight is average, her head is average and her weight was also proportional to her height according to her BMI.

I really liked her new pediatrician and think that she is going to mesh very well with Layla's personality and mine in the years to come.  We have a healthy, healthy baby girl and I can only pray that her 3rd year of life will be as healthy as her first two!

Pics from last few days!

The Kairdolf Pool!

Glenlake Pool with Henry!

My little fish

I just thought this blue looked good on her.  And since she hates pics the is the best I could do.

Doctoring and Feeding her babies.  She has all 4 of them lined up.  For her birthday, her granna got her a vetrinarian set and she loves it.

Feeding her babies crackers.  This pic is in her black dance leotard that Aunt Ashly got her for her bday.

Summer time means popsicles!!

Layla's life in her last month as a 1 year old!

Since we just celebrated Layla's second birthday, I will give one last month to month summary of her life.  I will do them now on a more need to know basis.  Here is what life was like in her last month as a ONE YEAR OLD!

Her 2 year appt is coming up this week so I will have exact stats then!

She is officially potty trained!  Panties all the time except when sleeping.  She still has an occasional accident every 3 days or so.
When pottying, she wants the door shut and it completely dark.  If we can't make it dark enough, she covers her eyes with her hands.

She still loves music, books, and dancing.  When she reads her toddler Bible she goes straight to the page with baby Jesus and yells "baby Jesus"!

Layla's favorite movie of the month is Milo & Otis.  She loves it but can't watch at the part when the cat is getting pinched by the crab.

She has scrapped her knees a few times and cried so much to the point that I have to put long pants on her so she can't see the "boo boos". D.R.A.M.A.

When she is in the stroller and a car stops so we can cross, she does the polite wave to say "thank you".

She knows walking directions to her friend Kyson's house.  At what age do we let her go herself??:)

Layla loves the water and has no fear.  After watching boys jump off the diving board, she tried to climb up the ladder herself.

She hates when the stick starts to come out of the other end of the popsicle. I usually have to adjust it for her.

We have noticed how differently she acts with older kids vs. younger kids.  She is more whiney when the younger kids are around.  Hopefully she get this out of her system before we have another.

Her vocabulary is growing by the day and I am still impressed by the words she is putting together.

Layla still uses her sign language when she speaks that I began teaching her at 6 months old.  I will definitely teach our next child more than I did with Layla.

She stands on a stool in front of her sink to brush her teeth and wash her hands independently.  She even spits when brushing.  I always get a glimpse of an older kid when I see her admiring herself in the mirror.

She wanted Thomas the Train underwear that I didn't buy because it was made for boys but after Facebook comments, I think I will next time.

Layla is now initiating hugs and kisses, followed by the words "Wuv you".  And when Lucas and I are both around, she is always fair to share here love:)

We are looking forward to having a 2 year old around the house.  With each year comes more joy and even more love!

Wow! A Big 2 Year Old!

Today, we celebrated Layla's 2nd birthday!  These have definitely been the fastest 2 years of my life and I am sure that I will say that every year from here on out!  I try not be to too nostalgic on Layla's birthdays about how she is not a baby anymore.  This year was a lot less emotional for me because 2 is such a great age and I can see all the fun in having an "older" kid!  I am so thankful to celebrate each day of Layla's life.  You can not adequately describe the love of a parent until you are one.  Layla makes being a parent so easy and one of the biggest joys of my life.

Thank you Jesus for giving us our precious daughter.  You have definitely poured into our lap a good measure- pressed down, shaken together, and our cup absolutely runneth over!
Breakfast of choice for the bday girl: Yogurt!

Snack at the pool! This kid LOVES the water!

Warming up before the guests arrive!

Cookies made and shipped by my sweet friend in TN. Thanks Jessica!

Cake made by me. Not near as cute as the cookies but it was yummy!

Love this little girl!!

Doing laps on the porch before the guests arrive.  She was so excited.

Kisses!

Doesn't get much cuter than this!

Using the party napkin to swaddle kitty.

Eating a yummy cookie!

"All for me momma?"

Happy Birthday!

Our family!  Layla is definitely favoring daddy these days!

Present time!

Kyson has a dog like this that she loves.  Now she finally has one of her own.  Thanks Webb Family!

Excited about her tricycle from momma and daddy. She calls it a bicycle.
I have to say about this tricycle...Lucas and I have not bought her a single gift for any occasion up to this point.  So this is really her first "gift" from us:)

Can't have a bike without a helmet.  Or as Layla says, "hat".

Ready to ride!

Thanks to Rudd Family, Harrison Family, and Webb Family for making this an extra special day for Layla.  We are so thankful for all of you in our lives and look forward to spending many years ahead with you and your children!
